The year 2008 was a busy and productive time for your building and grounds committee, keeping up with routine building maintenance and tackling a few large projects to help make our facilities more comfortable, economical, and safe. A very special thank-you is extended to all that helped with these projects throughout the year.
200th Anniversary Memorial Gifts Projects Completed: 1. New wood Lectern Bible stand constructed 2. New Gay Street courtyard lettering installed along sidewalk 3. New automatic door opener installed on the Gay Street handicapped entrance
Other Projects Organized and Completed: 1. Paving of the church parking lot 2. Renovation of the men’s downstairs rest room 3. Painting of four Sunday School rooms in the Educational Wing as two Eagle Scout projects 4. Installation of two new gas stoves in kitchen 5. Purchasing of new microwave for kitchen 6. Tuck pointing of exterior brick in the inner courtyard between Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall 7. Installation of new high efficiency boiler for Educational Building 8. Planting of Spring flowers and mulching of flower beds around church 9. Replacement of all exterior door locks and keys with high security type 10. Fall cleanup of flower beds, leaf removal, and shrubbery pruning 11. Repairing of membrane roof adjacent to belfry from high wind damage 12. Repairing of broken stained glass in Gay Street outside entry door 13. Contracted thru Scioto Valley Presbytery Utility Consortium to purchase our natural gas at a greatly reduced rate per CCF 14. Concrete repairs made to Gay Street entrance steps by Weithman Brothers under full warranty 15. Installation of new membrane roof over the old “Logos” store room
Projects Planned for 2009: 1. Finish roof shingle repair to Educational Building from high wind damage 2. Paint fire escape as a Eagle Scout project 3. Install fire exit signs and emergency lighting in hallways 4. Replace steel basement door in Educational Building 5. Replace air conditioning unit in Knox Meeting Room and add a third air conditioning unit to the Fellowship Hall 6. Repair plaster damage and repaint interior walls around Sanctuary balcony and in old Logos storeroom 7. Perform maintenance on church bell to make it functional 8. Replace carpeting in parlor
200th Anniversary Memorial Gifts Projects to complete in 2009: 1. Refinishing and reupholstering of five wood pulpit chairs 2. Construction of wooden information racks
