Annual Report

Music & Worship Committee

2007

It was a wonderful year for the Worship Committee, as it was for all of First Presbyterian Church. Both Sunday services have grown, and we continue to find ways “to grow in the knowledge and love of our Lord Jesus Christ and to make Him known in our community and the world”, during our time of Worship.

Worship is central to what we as a church family do. We are called to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all of our minds. We are also called to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded. It is First Presbyterian Church Worship Committee’s goal to assure our worship service time helps us practice these commandments.

Members of the 2007 Worship Committee were Marty Trese, Miriam King, John Denzer (Chair June to Current), Dann Goodson, Mike Conway, Laura Abell (Chair January to June) and Deb Curran.

Some highlights of the 2007 Worship Team’s efforts were:

· FPC purchased New International Version (NIV) Bibles for the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. The large lectern Bible was anonymously donated.

· A PowerPoint Projector was donated for use during the worship services.

· The Fellowship Hall PA system was replaced with a portable system that can be used in other parts of the church and at outdoor events.

· The 90th Lessons and Carols Service was held during the Christmas Season.

· A sanctuary banner for the 200th Anniversary celebration was purchased. The banner will be the same size as the other sanctuary banners, and will be centered on the “Forward in Faithfulness” theme.

· Many musically inclined members donated countless hours to worship our Lord. Many thanks go to the Bell Choir, Chancel Choir and First Service Worship Team.

· Training for “extended communion” was provided to active and inactive Elders and Deacons who will volunteer to offer communion to members who cannot attend Sunday Worship Service.

· A document for “A Guide for Funeral Planning” has been drafted by the Worship Committee and will be submitted to Session for approval in 2008.

· The committee approved to hold one worship service for the 200th Anniversary celebration.

· From a financial aspect, Worship spending was within budget for 2007.
